The staff of the PA Burlesque Festival is looking forward to your application to appear at "The Burlesque Gala" show on Friday, June 29, or the "Big Reveal" competition show on Saturday, June 30, 2012. We have outgrown our hometown of Jim Thorpe, PA, so join us in Philadelphia for a massive helping of Brotherly Love! Our festival is much-anticipated by this beautiful, historic city, and we're thrilled to have you along for what will be a landmark event. "The Burlesque Gala" show is geared for performers who do not wish to compete, or who will feel more comfortable in a production that welcomes all skill-levels. Our standards are still high for this show, but we love giving newcomers an opportunity to perform alongside seasoned acts in a more relaxed atmosphere.
The 'Big Reveal" show is our flagship performance. It is a competition that carries a $1,000.00 cash prize and the "Crystal Corset" Award, as presented by Dragontown Corsets. The Burlesque acts are judged by a qualified panel, based on criteria such as style, presence, and the execution of the reveal. The "Big Reveal" welcomes applications from professional and novice Burlesque performers, because we know that amazing talent comes in all forms!
We also hope you will consider teaching a class (or two!) The PA Burlesque Festival is looking for Burlesque-related classes that will appeal to the general public, who may have little or no prior experience with Burlesque, Vaudeville, or performance art as a whole. We want you to lend your expertise! Our goal is (6) movement classes, (4) workshop/hands-on classes, and (2) lectures or round-table discussions. Lastly, the PABF is offering free lodging at the host hotel, the Hampton Inn, for all accepted performers. They are all rooms with two doubles, and will house 4 performers. The PA Burlesque Festival's "BURLESQUE BAZAAR" wants you to exhibit your burlesque wares on June 30 and July 1, 2012!
Our host hotel, The Hampton Inn (1301 Race St., Philadelphia,) is beautifully remodeled and is in a busy center-city location. We've taken their entire event space!
Last year's Bazaar was a lot of fun, and business was good. We hope, with a larger pool of merchants, and a larger, more convenient venue, that 2012 will be even better! Read more about what's in store in our online application!
